F. Lamar Kelsey was a member of the first generation of American architects schooled in contemporary design. Kelsey’s arrival in Bunts firm allowed the firm to expand on its classic foundation and produce numerous contemporary designs which won many awards. In 1962 the Cragmor Manor addition to Main Hall received the American Institute of Architects/Colorado Chapter "Award of Merit" in its Design Honor Awards (the jury chair was Pietro Belluschi). The building was admired for its ability to embrace contemporary design but respect the original structure of its noble neighbor, Main Hall.
